Thanks to reading “The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian” in this class, I learned some information about a few Native American people and their lives. What I Learned About Junior, a Native American He insisted on realizing his dreams, regardless of the difficulty and the consequences it would cause. People around the world need to be inspired by Junior’s life despite all difficulties in Junior’s life, he never gave up. I am never going to quit living life this hard, you know? I am never going to surrender to anybody. I have to prove that I will never give up. One sentence in the book can prove that Junior did not give up this sentence was in an interview on the basketball game, and he said about the game and his life he said, “I have to prove that I am stronger than everybody else. Nevertheless, Junior never gave up he always gave his best and overcame the obstacles in his life. Even though he alwaysneeded to get a ride to go to school he never skipped class and was one of the best students. Besides the bullying, Junior lost important people in his life such as his grandmother, his best friend left him, and his father’s best friend. Then, Junior always was bullied and ignored, but his big heart,simplicity and unique behavior made the people in the school change their minds and accept Junior. ![]() He was the only Indian in his school and it makes him different, and besides that, he was very poor. Junior, a Native American, leaves his reservation and goes to a school to pursue a better way of life. Junior was perseverant because he had many difficulties in his life, but he never gave up and pursued his dream. He was always smart to turn away from bad situations, brave in the face of all the challenges of life and hopeful to believe that he was capable of living a better life. The book “The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-time Indian” is a really good lesson about perseverance because despite all difficulties in Junior’s life, he was smart, brave, hopeful, and perseverant. Through all the bad times that Junior has lived, his friends bring joy to his life.įor me, the focus given by writer on friendship is the most important and beautiful part of this book. Human beings always need people to trust and talk about our problems, and successful and happy moments. Unlike Junior, the most important people in my life are my family, but my friends also have an indispensable role in my life. Junior appreciates the friendship and in that, he is like me. ![]() In the chapter “Dance, Dance, Dance” Penelope asks Junior if he’s poor, and Junior answers: “Yes”, “I’m poor.” He figured they wouldn’t continue being his friends but it didn’t matter that Junior is poor. Roger was the first person who guessed Junior is poor, and he helps Junior in difficult situations. Since this moment, Junior won Roger’s respect. ![]() During the first days of Junior at Reardan, Roger makes a racist joke to Junior and Junior punched him in the face. They try to help the other with his/her problems. Junior and Penelope have their own problems. When Junior sees Penelope for first time, he likes her. These were difficult times for Junior, and Gordy didn’t think the teacher should say something so rude to him.Īnother friend is Penelope. Gordy defended Junior because, first his grandmother died and then his father’s best friend died. A good example of that is in the chapter “Valentine Heart” when their teacher told Junior: “You really shouldn’t be missing class this much” and Gordy stood with his textbook and dropped it. Gordy defended and supported to Junior in the school. The friendship between them isn’t very intense, but they help each other. He’s a nerd, and he’s a genius of his class. He feels confident with Rowdy.īy suggestion of a teacher, Junior decided to change schools. Junior trusts Rowdy and he told Rowdy everything his secrets and his problems. In the chapter “Revenge Is My Middle Name” Junior says: “Rowdy has protected me since we were born”. In the first chapter, Junior mentioned that Rowdy is more important than his family for him. ![]() Throughout the story, Junior tells about four friends. Junior’s true friends and his family are the most important people in his life. ![]()
